at a glance
→ Johan appears as a charismatic and intelligent young man with a silver tongue. To most, he appears gentle-hearted, empathetic, and trustworthy. Neither non-judgmental nor aggressive, he endears himself to others easily, and they find themselves not only trusting him, but entrusting themselves to him, no matter the path he may lead them down.
→ Johan generally appears as a graduate student, top of his class, studying law. In a setting where a student may not be appropriate, he can easily adopt other roles and personae. A secretary for a business magnate; a notable member of a particular organization. He seeks not prestige but connection.
→ I generally play Johan as post series in memes (presenting as a graduate student in law), since this makes him less actively destructive. While largely the same in demeanor, Anna and Tenma's respective choices have caused some sway in his otherwise absolutist conviction. He's a little more contemplative, but still needs to decide on what lesson he needs to take away from the finale himself.
→ If you're canon-familiar and want Johan from another point in canon, please do let me know!
a little deeper
→ Johan is manipulative, cold-hearted, and capable of obscene cruelty. However, he is defined by love. For every atrocious act he conducts, for every mass-murder he orchestrates, for every person he isolates and exacts a slow revenge upon— he is motivated largely by his love for his twin sister, Anna, whom he desires above all to protect. To Johan, this is the only way he knows how to love, and it is something he picked up from his father figure.
→ This love is rounded out by years of trauma and attempted manipulation by the adults around him that continued into his adult life, manipulation which influenced the disturbing circumstances of his and Anna's birth, and caused great harm to Anna. Johan believes that you can't trust others, especially adults, for they will only manipulate you.
→ Johan is in many ways a young at heart. Anna went on to be raised with love, as he wished for her, but Johan could not escape the cycle that created him. He never understood if he had a place in this world or if he was wanted, and he struggled to fully understand himself. He grew into a nihilistic view of the world, and he came to believe there is no changing a monster like him.

→ Tenmas are always welcome. You don't even need to ask.
→ Assumed CR is always okay. Johan is a friendly guy who knows a lot of people and gets involved in a lot of things. He is rarely the face of any activity, but he's good at making connections.
→ Ship/smut/romance is totally okay! (M/M, please.) Johan isn't normally interested in pursuing any of these things unless he's manipulating you, so you're free to assume CR and handwave that he's in a relationship with your character.
→ As a warning, in a scenario where Johan is in love with your character, he's probably going to be fixated in an unhealthy way.
→ Mind-reading is okay. His mind is a canonically horrifying hellscape, and it disturbs most.
→ Violence/killing is okay, just DM me first if it's not a violent meme. Normally he has people willing to die and kill for him, which is how he'd get by, but, without that, he's just a regular human. He probably won't fight or struggle.
sensitive subjects
→ Monster examines the evils surrounding certain sensitive subjects. While these themes exist in canon, I don't intend to reference them in memes.
